Zarate was born in San Luis Potosi, Mexico. He is mainly a self-taught artist. He did continue to expand his knowledge while attending the Illinois Institute of Art in the Chicagoland area. After college he began to further his study and experiment with different styles. From American, Japanese, tattoo, abstract, surrealism and Italian High Renaissance.
Zarate is a painter, printmaker and sculptor. Zarate has become a master of his craft while continuing his work in the more traditional mediums of painting and drawing.
Zarate's perspective of life, death and love is translated into his art. Whether consciously
or sub-consciously, these emotions are used in the creative process. Although he has his own interpretation of his art, everyone who views his art can see something different and in doing so, they make each piece of art their own.
